Mother's Day Brunch: The One Where We (Hopefully) Don't Start Fights

It’s been a while, but I’m back.

If you’re anything like me, you want to do something special for the mothers in your life.  First, it seems like you have all the time in the world, and then it’s too late.  I’m here to tell you to start planning now to throw a nice Mother’s Day Brunch. 

My kids are going to make some mini muffins. In the spirit of Mother’s Day, they’ve promised to get through it without the batter ending up all over the kitchen.  Let’s see how that plays out.  They’ll make a basic batter and adjust it depending on if it is fruit or chocolate chips, they plan on adding.  Nothing finishes muffins or breads like topping them with Sweet Madness’s White Crystal Sugar.  They’ll give your baked goods a sweet little crunch. 

While they’re doing that, I’m going to make some delicious Cinnamon French Toast.  The mixture calls for vanilla, and I only use the best – Madagascar, which I get from Spice Madness.  Of course, the chef’s kiss is a sprinkle or two of Spice Madness’s Cinnamon once the toast is taken from the griddle. Between getting the house ready and cooking, there’s not a lot of time, but what’s brunch without omelets?  I found a great recipe using dried herbs – tarragon, thyme, basil, and oregano along with salt and pepper to taste.  Measuring herbs is much faster than cutting them.  Plus, I won’t’ have to worry about someone getting a stalk or a big leaf of parsley if I get distracted while chopping.
